10 Places to Visit in Goa
Jun 12, 2025
With more than 1,400 islands in the Andaman Sea and Golf of Thailand, it’s tricky to decide which islands to visit. But don’t stress—we’ve done the island hopping for you! Whether you are after white sand beaches, world-class diving, a peaceful getaway from the crowds, or a beachfront party for the night, Thailand has islands for all types of travelers.
Koh Chang is the second-largest island in Thailand and located close to the Cambodian border, it is still relatively undeveloped compared to other islands in Thailand such as Phuket and Samui. Think waterfalls, jungles, and a rough coast—not too civilized, just raw beautiful nature. Koh Chang is perfect when you want a balance of fun and adventure without the crowds. Best for: Adventures, nature lovers, and chill beach bums.
Located just a few hours away from Bangkok, Koh Samet is a popular destination for city-slickers seeking a quick beach escape. With bright white sand beaches and beautiful water, it’s an ideal place for a short getaway.
Best for: Quick trips, couples, and anyone in a hurry.
Koh Phi Phi is known for its amazing limestone cliffs and Maya Bay (from The Beach) and is definitely photogenic. Yes, it’s touristy – but, there’s a reason why. Whether you’re diving, snorkeling, partying, or just enjoying the scenery.
Best for: First-timers, photographers and party seekers.
Koh Samui has everything, whether you’re seeking five-star resorts, family-friendly fun, yoga retreats, or nightlife. The greener and more developed island is easily accessible with something for everyone.
Best for: Families, honeymooners, and luxury-seekers.
This island remains mostly undeveloped and has a limited number of resorts along with an endless supply of natural beauty. If you want to experience Thailand before tourism, Koh Kood is your place.
Best for: Secluded beaches, nature, and taking your time.
Small and peaceful, Koh Mak is great for biking down palm-lined pathways, snorkeling from your bungalow, or literally doing nothing at all. Many resorts are eco-friendly and family-owned.
Best for: Travelers with a sustainability mindset and romantic getaways.
Phuket is huge, and has something for everyone – party, nightlife in Patong; luxury in Surin; local culture in Old Town; boat trips to the neighbouring Phi Phi Islands or Phang Nga Bay. If you want somewhere that’s easy to base yourself that will provide a slice of everything, I think you’ll be happy in Phuket.
Best for: Convenience, variety, group travel.
Sure, it’s known for the Full Moon Party once a month, but there is more to Koh Phangan than that. The northern beaches are beautiful and tranquil, there are yoga retreats galore, and the island is breathtaking once you look past Haad Rin.
Best for: Partiers, yogis, and digital nomads.
Last Tips:
The Andaman Coast (Phuket, Phi Phi, Koh Yao) is best travelled November–April.
The Gulf of Thailand (Samui, Phangan, Koh Tao) is best travelled May–October.
Don’t try to see them all in one trip; remember that ‘less is more’ with island hopping!
